Stereo Capture, Perfected
Warm Audio’s acclaimed vintage-inspired mics, preamps, and compressors have famously upset the pro audio price/performance ratio. So, when the company set about re-creating the most famous stereo tube condenser microphone of all time, you know it had to be good. And indeed, it is. With its discrete, transformer-balanced vacuum tube circuitry and custom reproduction capsules, the WA-CX24 nails the flat frequency response and euphonic, seductively silky high end of the revered original — a sound heard on countless iconic recordings. Ideal for spacious stereo capture of vocals, pianos, acoustic guitars, drums, and more, the Warm Audio WA-CX24 is remarkably easy to use, its 180-degree capsule rotation guaranteeing consistent alignment for perfect phase, whatever the settings. Complete with its dedicated power supply unit, shockmount, a Gotham 9-pin cable, a wood microphone storage box, and a roadworthy tweed flight case, the WA-CX24 is an incredible value. A universe of possibilities
The WA-CX24’s nine polar patterns — cardioid, omnidirectional, and figure-8, plus six in-between patterns — give you unprecedented flexibility when it comes to exploring the gamut of recording techniques. The patterns are accessible via two switches, one per capsule, and having them all available in one microphone eliminates the hassle and phase anomalies commonly encountered with multi-mic stereo capture. With the mic’s uncanny ability to flatter any source (and tame sibilant or shrill ones), you’ll find yourself using the WA-CX24 for monaural capture as well. Cardioid, with its moderate side and near-total rear rejection, is useful for just about any studio task. Omni is great for capturing room ambience along with your source. Use a figure-8 technique to overdub a sax with natural slap or record two singers on one mic. With the WA-CX24’s full 180-degree capsule rotation and just the three main polar patterns, you can implement any coincident stereo capture technique, including mid-side (M-S), XY, and Blumlein — methods that typically require tedious, lengthy setups when using separate microphones. And don’t forget those six in-between pickup patterns, which enable endless variations that open up yet another world of possibilities!

Quality components make the Warm difference
Since the company’s founding in 2011, its performance- and value-packed pro audio gear has been perennially popular here at Sweetwater. How does Warm Audio do it? They order parts and build in quantity, which keeps costs down and delivers solid value — but they do not cut corners on parts. The WA-CX24 is built with top-shelf, all-discrete components, including a premium 12AY7 vacuum tube, polystyrene and Wima film capacitors, a TAB-Funkenwerk USA output transformer, and two custom edge-terminated, dual-backplate, all-brass vintage reproduction capsules. A large part of any microphone’s sound is contributed by its capsule. The complexity of the CK12-style capsules used in the WA-CX24 requires a painstaking manufacturing process; such high quality is typically not found in affordable condenser mics. For Warm Audio, premium parts and meticulous design deliver a superior-sounding microphone — one that doesn’t cost a fortune. Stellar performance, top-shelf parts, and amazing value: that’s the Warm Audio formula — and the WA-CX24 nails it.
