Inspired by the legendary Uni-Vibe and classic overdrives, Riptide from Eventide is a combo overdrive and modulation pedal that offers four FX voicings in full stereo. With two Drive FX and two Vibe FX, you can effortlessly transition from vibey waves of modulation to the crushing depths of overdrive and vice versa.

Control is straightforward and intuitive, with three control knobs per effect engine, plus an LED button that reverses the FX signal chain. Five presets are available onboard, with many more accessible via the Eventide Device Manager (EDM). The footswitches are dedicated to each FX engine and feature both momentary and latching operation depending on your performance needs. The Riptide sports impedance-matching 1/4" I/O, letting you easily plug in line- or instrument-level sources for processing, as well as an expression pedal, mini-USB, and TRS-based MIDI. Multiple bypass options are available, including buffered, relay-based, DSP + FX, and Kill Dry bypass configurations.

Two Colors of Drive

Riptide features a balanced distortion with superb dynamics and touch sensitivity. Green is a dynamic, midrange crunch. Red is a smooth and boosted overdrive.

Two Colors of Vibe

An authentic Shin-ei Uni-Vibe emulation captures the richness and modulation of the original in stereo. Green is the traditional Uni-Vibe. Red is a deeper, phasey vibe.

Controls

Each sound engine gets its own compliment of control knobs. For the Drive section, you get drive amount, tone, and level controls. For the Vibe section, you get Vibe Mix, Vibe Speed (modulation rate), and Vibe Intensity (modulation depth). You also get an LED swap button, which switches your signal path between either Vibe to Drive (default) or Drive to Vibe (LED on).

Catch-Up Knob Function

When loading a new Preset, knob positions will not align with their current parameter values. As a result, turning a knob will likely cause an audibly abrupt change. With Catch Up enabled, the sound does not change until the Knob is moved to the position of the current value.

Expression Pedal Morphing

Use an Expression Pedal to change any grouping of knob parameters in one smooth gesture. Easily program an expression pedal by setting end points for heel and toe.
